About the Game

The Imposter Word Game is an offline, pass-and-play party game. Crew members see the secret word; the imposter does not. Everyone gives subtle one-word clues, then you vote on who the imposter is.

Rules at a glance

  1. Create a local game, set players and imposters.
  2. Pass the phone. Each player taps to see their word or learn they are the imposter.
  3. After everyone knows their role, start clue-giving rounds.
  4. Vote on the imposter. Reveal and celebrate (or rematch)!

Strategy tips

  • Clue givers: stay specific but not obvious—avoid words that instantly reveal the topic.
  • Imposters: mirror the tone and length of other clues. Ask innocent clarifying questions.
  • Host: keep rounds short (30–60 seconds) so clues stay punchy.
  • Rotate categories to keep the word pool fresh and fair.
